The Little Lodge with a Big Impact!

About Us

The Northeast Iowa council became home to Timmeu lodge #74 on May 14, 1935 making it the first OA lodge in the state of Iowa. The Order of the Arrow was selected to be the the honor camping society for the council after the Boy Scout National Office recognized it in 1934.

The name "Timmeu" - which in Old Lenape - means "wolf head" was probably chosen by Glen Fordyce, the Council Executive at that time. With a little over 250 members, and slightly growing by each passing year, Timmeu has continued to provide the scouts of Northeast Iowa with cheerful service to the communities under the nickname, "The Little Lodge with a Big Impact."

Traditional Lodge Activities

Fall Fellowship
The Fall Fellowship is usually held during one of the last weekends in August at Camp C.S. Klaus. During the weekend, arrowmen can complete their Ordeal or Brotherhood Honor membership into the Order of the Arrow. Numerous activities and work projects are participated in by all who attend. The Fall Fellowship also includes the inductions of new Timmeu Lodge officers.
Lodge Leadership Developement Conference (LLDC)
The LLDC is usually held during the second weekend of September at Camp C.S. Klaus. The weekend is designed to be fun and educational. This weekend includes training cells for all arrowmen to better their leadership ablities, and fun fellowship team building activities for all arrowmen to better their brotherhood in the lodge.
Winter Banquet
The Winter Banquet is usually held during second Saturday in January. This event is a celebration to recognize all the accompishments of the Lodge and individual Arrowmen over the past year.
Mother's Day Pancake Breakfast
Every Mother's Day, Timmeu Lodge #74 sponsors as a fundraiser a pancake breakfast at Eagle Point Park in Dubuque, Iowa. The money raised at the breakfast is used for improvement projects at Camp C.S. Klaus in Colesburg, Iowa. Contributions have included: an A-frame building, the Visitors latrine, sailboats, canoes, freezers, roofs, outriggers, tentage, floorboards, and a Scoutcraft pavilion. During the spring of each year, the chairman of the Mothers Day Breakfast contacts Timmeu Lodge members asking for their cheerful service. Each arrowmans service is needed to insure its continued success in the Northeast Iowa Council.
Spring Fellowship
The Spring Fellowship is held at the beginning of June at Camp C.S. Klaus. Like the Fall Fellowship, arrowmen have the opportunity to complete their Ordeal or Brotherhood Honor membership. During the weekend, various projects take place in order to prepare Camp C.S. Klaus for the summer camp season. The Spring Fellowship also includes the elections of the New Timmeu Lodge officers.
Section Conclave
Timmeu Lodge is located within Section C-1C of the Order of the Arrow. Every September our lodge, including 4 other lodges in our section, come together for a fun filled weekend of training, activities, ice cream socials, evening show, patch trading, sightseeing, OA Jeopardy, and other events. The location is set on a rotation between each of the lodges so it is held at a difference camp each year.
NOAC
The National Order of the Arrow Conference or NOAC is held at a major college campus every other year and draws over 5000 delegates from across the country. NOAC, a smaller scale version of the National Jamboree, offers Arrowmen leadership training, ceremony competition, ice cream socials, nightly shows, Miss Teenage America, patch trading, sightseeing, OA Jeopardy, and athletic competitions. One of the highlights of the National Order of the Arrow Conference is the opportunity to meet fellow OA members from different parts of the country.
